I think many butterflies have odd names.
The red patches on the hind wings of the Cattleheart Butterfly remind some people of a cow’s heart. Maybe that’s the origin of the name.

Stop staring at me. I can’t help the way I look.
From my perspective, you’re the funny-looking one with that smooth skin and short face.
And, where are your tusks?
Let’s put it this way, in my neighborhood, you wouldn’t win any beauty contests.
Still, we can be friends.
Someone once told me, “Beauty is as beauty does.”

Do tortoises smile?
This looks like a smile to me, but it looks permanent.
Is it really a smile if your face always looks that way?
Doesn’t a real smile mean that you are happy about something?
Is this turtle always happy?

Sometimes, I catch a scene that makes me marvel at our natural urge to communicate across boundaries. When we don’t share language, we make simple gestures of friendship.
This one is between a human and a young orangutan. It reminds me of the idea of extending an olive branch to show goodwill.
Wasn’t it Solomon who told us that to have friends, we must first show ourselves to be friendly Pro 18:24 ?
When you don’t have an olive branch, you can simply use whatever is available. In this case, it seems to be working.

Mom: “But, she’s so sweet.”
Baby: “That’s right. I’m adorable.”

Have you heard the expression, “Bee’s Knees”?
Its current meaning is something that is excellent; however, that is not how it began.
In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, we see the expression, “the BE all and END all” which means the central or most important element of something.
After years of use, people began to say, “Bs and Es” which sounds like “bee’s knees.”
It seemed to make sense because bees collect sweet pollen on their knees which suggests goodness.
The new expression thrived and the old one got lost.

This was a “come as you are” slumber party.
What is the appeal of a slumber party?
Is it an excuse to stay up late without aggravating your pare
nts? Are games such as “Truth or Dare” more fun when you play them late at night?
