Bucket Trick

When I saw this bucket, I was enthusiastic.

I envisioned some tasty treats being inside it.

When I looked, it held nothing but some dried twigs.

I even looked under the bottom of bucket to see if the humans had hid some food there.

Humans can be sneaky sometimes.

They may think a new bucket provides me with an “enrichment” activity, but, in my opinion, not including some food is mean.

I don’t appreciate their Bucket Trick.

Lion-Tailed Macaque

In German, the Lion-Tailed Macaque’s name is Bartaffe.

That means beard ape.

To me, the German word is more descriptive of what I see.

Doesn’t that silver-white mane look like a big beard?

Golden Lion Tamarin

Would you like to have hair like this?

As you might guess, the golden lion tamarin gets its name from the thick rings of hair around its head that resemble a lion’s mane.

Sometimes I Wonder

Though always I seek

to give, to love, to share

sometimes I wonder why

I am lacking so forlornly

in being able

to turn inward

this giving heart
