Rothschild Silkmoth

Here’s a striking member of the silkmoth family.

The Rothschild Silkmoth has a transparent panel on each of its four wings.

If you look closely, you can see through the panels in the photo to see the plant behind its wings.

Hop To It

When someone tells me to, “Hop to it,” I take that to mean that I’m supposed to get busy with the task.

On the other hand, this kangaroo seems to hop to it for the sheer joy of it.

Perhaps I can learn something from him.

Eye of the Tiger

What is it about the eye of the tiger?

Do you stop moving because the eyes hypnotize you or does fear immobilize you?

The eyes draw me in so that I have trouble breaking my gaze.

Camouflage Expert

I had to look closely with my zoom lens to find this sneaky little frog.

If you could blend in to look like something else, what would it be?

Would you like to look like:

  • a plant?
  • an animal?
  • a piece of furniture?
  • other ______?

How would you use your camouflage gift?

Size of a Friend

Friends come in all shapes and sizes.

Look closely at my little friend atop my back.

I provide my friend a buffet of tasty insects.

He does me the favor of removing irritating skin parasites.

I need more friends like that.
