Sink Your Teeth Into It

The expression, “sink your teeth into” means to put a lot of your time and energy into something.

Our friend here wants a project he can really sink his teeth into.

Do you have any suggestions for him?

Where’s Charlotte?

I captured this photo because it made me think of the story Charlotte’s Web.

I see the web, but where’s Charlotte?

In the story, a pig got credit for the remarkable web that Charlotte made.

Some people crave attention and demand credit for as much as possible.

Others simply take joy in creating.

(That doesn’t mean it’s okay for someone to take credit for their work.)

Growing Horns

Do you remember when your body began to change as you transitioned from being a child to an adult?

Perhaps you experienced what people call growing pains.

Look on the bright side.

At least you didn’t have to grow horns.

Straw Hat

I like to capture animal behavior that seems odd to me.

This gorilla doesn’t appear to know the purpose of the nesting materials the zookeepers have provided.

Is this her attempt at making a straw hat?

What is the Meaning of a Yawn?

With humans, a yawn is likely an indication of being tired or bored.

With tigers, it could also mean they are hungry and deciding if it’s time to look for something tasty.

Escape Artist

Here’s what I thought I heard the elephant saying as I took his photo,

“They treat me well here, but I’m curious what there might be on the other side.

Besides, I view myself as an escape artist and I like a challenge.

I’ve watched a human latch this gate.

I think I can flip the latch and make my escape while he’s not looking.”

Sneaky Stretch

This koala has learned a technique called the “sneaky stretch.”

It involves pretending that you are stretching while you sneak up on something you want.

It’s also a good way to conserve energy.

Instead of using your whole body to get something, you just slowly move one arm.

Try it. It’s fun!

Ugly Duckling

Danish author, Hans Christian Anderson told the story of a homely little bird born in a barnyard.

The bird suffered abuse from the others until, much to his delight (and their surprise),

he matured into a beautiful swan.

Why do we persist in judging people by their appearance instead of by how they behave?

Talk about Changes

The Cecropia caterpillar goes through five stages each lasting approximately a week.

As they mature, their color changes from black to brown to green.

This photo shows a late stage caterpillar.

Now, it’s time for the big change into a moth.

Talk about changes!

Regal Profile

What makes for a regal profile?

Is it a strong jaw line?

Is it a distinguished nose? What

ever it is, I must admit that our lion friend has a more regal profile than I do.
