From my photographer’s perspective, this Julia Heliconian butterfly looks good up or down.
Unlike most butterflies, the Julia isn’t restricted to feed on nectar.
Their ability to consume pollen provides amino acids allowing them to live longer than many butterflies.
That makes me think of the ups and downs of the human diet.
Dietary needs are a little different for each person, but I’m fairly certain God did not design most of us to eat potato chips whose ingredient list contains more chemicals than food.
Hmmm, maybe He gave me a body that thrives on potato chips.

This woman is showing us how to ride a camel the safe way.
Notice the handrails. When there’s a bumpy ride, those are helpful.
It’s a long drop if you fall out of the saddle. Prevention is key.
Seeing this through my lens almost convinced me to take a camel ride myself.

With this much illumination, you might think this is a photo of the sun.
When a full moon is at the point in its elliptical orbit so that it is closest to earth, we call it a SUPER moon.
Because it is 17,000 miles closer to Earth than usual, it appears much larger.
Naturally, I couldn’t pass up this photo opportunity, especially since I got this view from my own backyard.

If you aren’t already crazy for recycling, this “recycle cycle” might convince you.
It was an interactive display at the local zoo. You could borrow a stick from the bucket and bang on the junk items for fun.
This photo was not for artistic expression. I simply wanted to capture a fun subject.
There was no way my words could describe it sufficiently, but the picture said it all.

Sometimes, I feel like I have to jump through hoops to get a photo that’s pleasing to my eyes.
When I capture an image like this, it makes it worth the effort.
As I saw this expression of wide-eyed wonder through my lens, I felt deep admiration for the baby.
Our world can seem drab and draining at times.
Moments like these remind me to seek those moments of wonder.
I enjoy capturing an occasional portrait in black and white.
For me, it places the focus on the emotion of the person while the remainder of what’s in the photo doesn’t detract.
Sometimes, it’s clear to me that the color in the photo doesn’t add to the emotion I’m trying to capture.

My favorite type of photography involves nature, especially animals.
Somehow, animal behavior reminds me of relationships with people.
What these two photos make me think =
Sometimes, you are in the mood to talk, Other times, words don’t solve the problem.
This is what we call a “face off.”

As a photographer, things from a simpler time catch my eye.
Not only are they visually interesting, but they make me wish for the Good Ole’ Days.
On the other hand, I am grateful for our modern day conveniences and, of course, camera equipment.
