Slip Slidin’ Away

As I took this photo, the Paul Simon lyrics, “Slip Slidin’ Away” popped into my head.

God only knows. God makes His plans.

The information’s unavailable to the mortal man.

We work our job. Collect our pay.

Believe we’re gliding down the highway.

When in fact we’re slip slidin’ away.

Power of Smell

Smell is the only sensory input that is closely connected to brain regions that handle memory and emotion.

Notice the look of bliss on our friend’s face.

What smells transport you to a place of happy memories?

Ostrich Fun Facts

To accompany my ostrich photo, I can’t resist the urge to provide some fun facts.

  • If you make an omelet from an ostrich egg, it will be enough to feed 8 people. I’m not sure where you’ll get a skillet large enough to cook it.
  • Diodorus of Sicily, a historian of the first century BC, believed the ostrich was the missing link between birds and camels. That makes about as much sense as today’s theory of evolution. Perhaps Darwin stole his ideas from Diodorus.
  • In a survey of 200 thousand ostriches over 8 years, not one admitted that it buried its head in the sand. In fact, 93% of respondents were offended by that question.

Lost My Marbles

Sometimes, I feel like I’ve lost my marbles.

Then again, sometimes my marbles are right there in front of me.

At least, that’s the message I got through my lens.

I Can Almost Taste It

When you smell a meal that someone is preparing, do you begin to imagine what it will taste like?

This photo suggests that our tiger friend is imagining a tasty meal.
