Fritillary

The Fritillary butterfly is a distant cousin of the Monarch butterfly.

Its name comes from the Latin word “fritillus” which means chessboard.

Frankly, I don’t see how anyone would think this butterfly looks like a chessboard.

Perhaps those who name butterflies have a bigger sense of imagination than I do.

Taste It

When it comes to something new, my policy is to taste it.

You never know how yummy it could be.

In this case, I was disappointed. The taste was not yummy.

Wish me better luck next time.

Nap with a Friend

When you take a nap, do you prefer to nap alone or with a friend?

Which of you will admit that your napping friend is a teddy bear or other stuffed animal?

If you are a “grown-up,” there’s no need to be embarrassed.

Many adults enjoy stuffed animals.

After all, stuffed animals don’t snore or steal your blanket.

Penguin Kiss?

What’s with the kiss?

Is beak-touching a variation on what we call a kiss? So far, non

e of my penguin friends have answered the question.

Admittedly, we don’t discuss deeply personal things.

To them, I’m simply the crazy lady who visits to take photographs of them.

Lonely

Do you ever feel lonely?

There may be someone nearby, but they have no interest in interacting with you.

Sad winds are all that blow.

Is it worse to feel lonely in a crowd or feel lonely with just one other person there?

Bridge Perspective

It’s fun to look at bridges from different perspectives. This gave me the sensation of looking off into the distance and imaging the possibilities. What does the future hold?

Our Branch

The bended knee of a bird causes tendons in its legs to tightly grasp its branch.

Could the bended knee be a key to our holding fast to our Branch?

Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;

A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely;

Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Jer 23:5-6)

Did You Hear That?

Cheetahs can hear things at a much lower volume and much higher frequency than humans can.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that hiding in tall grass will fool a Cheetah.

If your stomach grumbles or you move the grass at all, your position will no longer be hidden.
