Baby Name

It’s interesting to hear some of the names people choose for their babies.

Some pick names to honor ancestors.

Others pick a name that is trendy or simply sounds good to them.

The name for this baby is Masika (muh-SEEK-uh).

In Swahili, her name means “born in the rainy season.”

Baby Stripes

Baby zebras begin with brown stripes. I’m fascinated with this idea.

When we transition from child to adult, we don’t have big changes in color.

Perhaps it would be an advantage.

Think about it.

If human babies were bright colors like orange, turquoise, or lime it would be easy to tell at a glance who was a child.

  • Fake IDs wouldn’t work.
  • You’d know who to put at the kids’ table during gatherings.

In the Groove

Why does this snake try to stay in the grooves between the blocks in the wall?

Does the support of the sides help him move?

Why did he try to climb up the wall?

He ended up coming back down to his original track almost immediately.

It seems like wasted effort.

Of course, it was a nice photo opportunity for me.

Groovy!

Gotcha!

Once I’ve tracked you down, there is no escape.

Gotcha!

This is one of those times when I am thankful for a barrier between the cheetah and me.

That confident, determined look is a bit spooky.

To me the angle of the tails adds to the overall ominous tone.
