What Big Ears You Have

This is a Fennec Fox who lives in the Sahara Desert.

I guessed the big ears were so he could hear his prey.

Those ears do help with that; however, their primary advantage is that they dissipate heat.

Golden Lion Tamarin

Would you like to have hair like this?

As you might guess, the golden lion tamarin gets its name from the thick rings of hair around its head that resemble a lion’s mane.

Monarch Name

The “trusty” internet told me that early North American settlers called this butterfly Monarch because of it regal orange appearance.

They named it in honor of King William, Prince of Orange.

Happy Walk

Is it just me or does this happy, confident walk remind you of John Travolta’s walk at the beginning of the movie, “Stayin’ Alive”? You can tell by the way I use my walk…

Sand Cat

At first, this appeared to be an ordinary house cat.

The Sand Cat lives in deserts and is able to withstand temperatures from below freezing to well over 100 degrees.

One interesting feature is the fur between their toes that protects their feet from the burning hot sand.

Can We Talk?

It’s fun to get photos of animals who seem to be saying something to me.

This one appeared to say, “Can we talk?”

It made me wonder if the giraffe wanted to give me some photography pointers.

Or, perhaps it wanted to tell me to find someone else as a subject for photos.
